New team, New week

The second team has arrived.  After a great nights sleep we are ready to meet the families who we will be building the 10 homes for this week. This week we are working in the village of Rio Frio. A priest, a minister and a politician came together because they seen the plight of the poor in their community and they wanted to help. They decided to put their differences aside and come together to help those in need. Bethany teams have held medical clinics there but this will be the first time we will be building. Excited to see what God has in store for us this week!

  1. Putting aside our differences is what it's all about. God is honored and his children are served.

  4. It really is hard to put into words what we have experienced over the past week. So many heart-warming as well as heart-breaking experiences!
As I shared in a devotional there one evening, I have come to see the word "blessings" a little differently from how I always thought of it. We usually think of blessings as nice things God gives to us. But I think God meant it to be so much more than that. There are both pleasant, as well as difficult experiences in our life that God blesses us with. It's in both that He draws us to Himself, so they are both blessings. I was challenged by the song that says, "What if your blessings come through raindrops". God loves the poor deeply, and wants us to be blessed by them as we reach out to them in love. That blessing means a deeper relationship with God, which in turn, will make us more willing to be His hands and feet in a world that needs to hear the Gospel, and needs to see it lived out. What a life-altering, relationship-deepening experience it was to be with the people of El Salvador!
