“There’s no knowing of where you might be swept off to”

El Salvador November 2016 Team!
(Almost all of us)

The rest of the team :)

"It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your front door. You step onto the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where you might be swept off to."
(from The Lord of the Rings)  J.R.R. Tolkien

Twenty-four people are walking out their front door this Saturday (Nov 5th) and heading off to El Salvador with the goal of bringing hope and building homes in the village of Rio Frio!  God has provided in amazing ways so that we can build 12 homes for families struggling with poverty.  We also have the privilege of doing Children’s and Ladies ministry in the village which gives us a great opportunity to connect and build relationships in the community. Thank you to the many people that support this ministry financially and in prayer that help make this possible!

It is dangerous when you walk out your front door, because there is a risk and it takes courage to get out of your comfort zone.  (Of course, hopefully we won’t have adventures like Frodo had!) But it can also be scary because you have to give of yourself.  A part of me wonders, am I up to the task?  What do I really have to offer?  Will I make mistakes and botch things up?  But I am encouraged by the verse that says “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers a multitude of sins”. (1 Peter 4:8)  The only kind of love that covers a multitude of sins is the love of God; the kind of love that sacrificed His son to bring peace, joy, healing and redemption to the world.  So as we go, our desire is that God would use us and work through us to show His love to the people of El Salvador as we serve them.  That is the most important thing that we can do.

We ask for your continued prayers, especially while we are there from Nov 5th to 13th.  We hope to keep you up to date in the blog with stories of the families and how God is working in El Salvador.
