El Salvador BBQ - $11,200 raised to build homes!

We sure had an awesome weekend for the BBQ fundraiser - God provided a gorgeous day.  We had no idea what to expect with the new earlier service times but who knew that people would love breakfast burgers!  A big thank you for all the support that was shown in many ways!

A total of $11,200 was raised to build homes in El Salvador! The homes we build cost $3,400 each so that's 3 1/4 new homes!

We are so excited that even more families will have a solid, safe and secure home this build season.  But even better is that more families will experience God's love and have the opportunity to get to know Him more intimately because of the generosity of the church community.  We are absolutely amazed at God's goodness and His provision.

Thank you for all your encouragement and support for the El Salvador teams!

  1. I love what you said about the fact that because of this fund raiser more families will get a much-needed home, and want to add a big "Amen!" to the fact that they will also receive the love of Christ as we give them their home. What a opportunity to present to them the greatest gift ever given-God's gift of salvation!

  2. Sometimes, there just aren't words to explain the impact that having a home will have on the Salvadorans that will be getting homes. When I went in March 2015 (and my son went for the 1st time - he's going for the 4th time in November), one of the families that I had the privilege of interviewing and giving the keys to is the family that sticks out in my mind and heart the most. The son, probably in his early 20s, obviously adored and honoured his parents. The wife was very quiet, shy, and reserved, and did not like the spotlight being on her. But just before we left that day, she reached up to touch my hand as I stood in the back of the truck to get my attention so we could speak in private. While my Spanish is excrutiatingly rusty and poor, it was more than clear that this home meant the world to her, and she knew that God was providing for her. We are the hands and feet of Jesus. It doesn't matter whether you are physically able to go on a trip to help build homes (but if you can, I would say DO IT! Even just once), or are able to give financially or help with fundraising in some other way. There just aren't words that are enough to paint enough of a picture of what this mission means and does.
